Bad news everyone.
I had planned a trip to Oklahoma for the next couple of weeks, but I’ve had to cancel those plans. Ireland has decided that any passengers flying in from the US (and 50+ other countries) will immediately be taken to mandatory hotel quarantine, at the travelers expense. 12 days and €1800 all the responsibility of the traveler, regardless of negative Covid tests or even proof of vaccination.
Years ago, I had to take a 17 day trip to Oklahoma without Katy. Eden was one year old then. We determined from that trip that 17 days was the absolute max we could be apart. This trip was already around 16 days, and the quarantine would bring it well over our limit.
So…with that in mind, plus the financial cost, plus the time stuck in a hotel…we’ve decided to cancel.
I had scheduled some very important meetings, which will now hopefully be rescheduled on zoom. I was also scheduled to preach in three churches, which will hopefully be rescheduled to later this year. And, most importantly, I was going to see my family in Nashville. They’ve been dealing with a lot of difficulty, and I was so looking forward to having a few days with them.
Please pray for my family and me. Pray for favour in meetings and church services. Pray for peace as we continue forward through this crazy time of Covid. I know we’ve all had it hard, so it’s wonderful to know we can all lean on each other.
Thank you for all you do!
