One of my favourite books ever is Out of Solitude by Henri Nouwen. In it he writes that the power of Jesus’ ministry came from the “lonely place”. We see Jesus retreating often into these moments alone with His Father. Every year (at least once) Katy and I each individually take a two-night getaway to pray and practice solitude.
We found an amazing place that has become our regular destination located near the ancient monastic city of Glendalough. It is beautiful and peaceful no matter the weather. We approach each retreat a little differently depending on what’s going on in life at the time. But each time we go it gives us energy and centres us for the coming months.
I encourage you to find you “lonely place” with the Lord. Maybe its a two-day retreat. Maybe its 10 minutes in a quiet corner of a coffee shop. Wherever you are, the Lord will be with you. He has consistently brought us peace, clarity, and gratitude through this practice.
We are so grateful for your prayers and support. Thank you for walking this journey with us.
