So we believe we’re at the end of our journey with the Charity Regulator. Our solicitor contacted them (per our request) asking for the remaining timeline until the meeting when their decision on us is to made. She replied refusing to give any details as it is a “long and legal process”. Yep, we figured that about 2 years in. Anyway, she did give us a little tidbit of info. Our next (and we believe final) phase is what she calls the “charity test”. Now that all our paperwork and things are in order (hopefully), their board or some team at the top will begin discussion around the five criteria to qualify as recognized charity in the nation of Ireland. Here they are.
The organisation must not be an excluded body, as defined in section 2(1) of the Act.
The organisation must operate in the State.
The organisation must have a charitable purpose(s) and must promote the charitable purpose(s) only.
The constitution of the organisation must require the organisation to apply all of its property (both real and personal) in furtherance of its charitable purpose(s)
The charitable purpose being promoted must be of public benefit
So there we go. As I mentioned, we’ve said this before…but we’re 99% sure we are in the final stage. While we are still in the queue of many other charities going through this same process, we hope and pray that our file will be reviewed and approved by August. We are so anxious to see this over the line and let our very excited volunteers out into the wild to begin serving women who need Zoe so much.
Thank you all so much for walking this long journey with us. Please be in prayer for us. Pray for favour with the Charities Regulator, favour with the board/lead team, and patience for us as we continue to wait on the Lord. It’s in His hands and no one else’s. If God be for us, who can be against us!
