I’m a foodie. Whenever I go to the grocery store I feel inspired to make all of this stuff from ingredients I see while I wander. Things sprinkled with fresh herbs...stuff wrapped in other stuff...etc. When I get home, though, and I’m trying to cut chicken with my screaming child clinging to my leg I just go, “Frozen pizza it is.”
This is how we all feel when we go to a conference and get excited about what God is doing and what He will do in the future. We come back down to reality and that’s when it can be discouraging. Right now, we are processing what God showed us while at Connect. We are still excited about the possibilities and vision for the future but need to stay focused and not allow discouraging thoughts to bring us down.
The exciting thing about a conference like Connect is that we spend a week discussing vision and strategy. The thing is, though, that vision and strategy only comes to pass through the slow process of time. The larger fruit is a result of the “nuts and bolts” of daily interactive ministry. Jesus is interested in every individual - their needs and their process in coming to know Him. We are privileged to walk with each person on their journey towards a better understanding of who Jesus is.
That’s where the sweetness of ministry is. That’s the bacon-wrapped steak, people. So, while we are looking for encouragement after an exciting week of vision-casting, we need to keep remembering that the important things we should be doing are the things Jesus gives us for today. Love one more person, share Him with one more person.
